Abstract

This essay begins from the premise that modern concept of political practices and processes may not be read into the Bible. However, it attempts to examine the biblical concept of politics using the lives of certain biblical characters that served in public/political offices whose positions enabled them to provide some form of social services to the people. It, then, argues that contemporary Christians can promote biblical values in governance and policy making as well as provide meaningful social services to their constituency and citizens in general. This paper concludes by identifying some areas that biblical Concept of politics can provide models for platform for Christian Social Service in Nigeria.
